Today you’ll meet one of our team members, Taylor Schomp. She became a customer with our company in 2013, and decided to build a business in July 2016. As a millennial, Taylor offers a unique perspective on how she transitioned from the rat race to time freedom.

I grew up seeing my mother build a business with our company, but I never took what she did seriously. I often rolled my eyes when my mom would talk about her business. I had no intention of ever joining her team.

So once I graduated high school, I headed to Vanderbilt University to get my degree in film. After college, I landed a job in an animation studio, and I loved the company and the work.

However, I soon found myself swamped at work everyday, drowning in responsibilities. I did not have the time freedom or flexibility that I had hoped for, and the paycheck was mediocre. I started to think more about my future, and realized that this was not the life I wanted to live.

I realized that I wanted to escape the rat race and create a life that I loved.

I knew I wanted to have my own business, so at first I considered starting a pizza company, and then buying a franchise for a gym. But then I thought, why not turn to those I trust?

So I reached out to my mom. I realized that although I had grown up with this business, I really never knew what it was all about. So I watched an overview about this business that she had been building all these years.

I also talked with my dad, and I recognized that my mom’s business was truly about helping other people. I realized that this was something that I wanted to do, too – I wanted to make an impact on others’ the way my mother has done.

Although I don’t recommend it to others, I took a risk and quit my job when I began building my business. At the same time, I decided to develop some additional income streams including renting out part of my home and teaching swim lessons. This allowed me to have financial stability while starting my new business.

Challenges for Millennials:

Many of my millennial peers feel unappreciated and overworked. Often they are staying at a job in a toxic work environment or an unhealthy culture simply because they don’t see any other options.

They don’t always recognize that there are options for them. Or, if they do, they are very confused about which business or company is a legitimate income opportunity.

I love showing them that by partnering with a U.S.-based manufacturer, they can have the option to develop an additional stream of income, one they can rely on, and even escape a job where they are unappreciated.

Creating the Life I Want:

I decided to pursue this business because I saw the potential of where it could go. I don’t have to worry about taking time off for an appointment or a trip. The flexibility and time freedom is something I never could have had in my traditional job.

In addition, being a part of this company and team has allowed me to grow and develop personally. When I worked behind a desk, it hindered my ability to interact with people. This business has helped me to push past some of my fears and develop my interpersonal skills.

Most importantly, this business allows me to make an impact on other people’s lives. I want to continue to follow in my mother’s footsteps by helping many other people reach their goals.

I’m looking forward to the future. I’ve made a resolution to spend more time outdoors this year, and I love participating in races like Tough Mudder. I’ve also got a new puppy, Bailey, and I’m excited about getting into agility training with her.

Because of my business with this company, I have the option to pursue these goals without worrying about requesting vacation. I’ve been able to escape the rat race and enjoy time freedom.

I’m truly able to live life on my own terms.
